Big cities are wonderful! They are full of tales, people from faraway places like Jamaica or Togo, you might even run into an African queen, some got pandas in the zoo or at least folks who don’t want to do what everybody else thinks they should do, some feel like waltzing sometimes…

Yet, with all the lights, glitter and communication technology people are still afraid of the dark, scared about survival and money trouble, and the worst of all fears – the one that kills love. Seems like some things never change although millions of years passed by.

Oh, my collaborators on this album can be scary too. They even scare me sometimes with their ability to react in the very moment, to create something out of nothing. They can get really wicked in live performances when they say what they got to say straight in people’s faces, rather than through microphones and studio gadgets. But they were not afraid to make honest contemporary musical document in just one hot summer day. There were very few rehearsals in order not to get too familiar and comfortable with the music. “Sheba” was never played before and it was recorded in just one take.

Fear is just an illusion unless we live in war torn, hunger stricken places where kindness itself is an illusion. And if we can remind ourselves of this more often I am sure there will be more “days like no other”.
